馬英九10日正式宣布參選中國國民黨主席，國共兩黨領導人何時會談引發台灣媒體揣測。
據台灣《聯合晚報》報導，馬英九在日前執政滿週年時曾表示，目前沒有和中共中央總書記胡錦濤會面的計劃。不過，國民黨黨政人士分析，考慮到台灣內部情勢，“胡馬會”2012年登場的機會最大。
報導說，“胡馬會”若不在馬英九本屆任期實現，現行國共兩黨主席頻繁會面的互動，可能面臨被“降級”的疑慮。
國民黨黨政高層表示，以目前台灣內部的氣氛，現階段如果馬英九以黨主席身份與胡總書記見面，勢必引起綠營批評。 2012年5月馬英九若順利連任，民意基礎將較現在更堅實，加上兩岸可能進一步討論和平協議等議題，屆時“胡馬會”應水到渠成。
